Force Close on Honeycomb Tablet Workaround

The force close when sending a lock command on a honeycomb tablet is a known issue. We are working hard to correct this problem with google.

A workaround to stop the force closing is first issuing a lockscreen password and removing it before using the lock command. (Once this has been preformed initially the lock command will work at anytime thereafter.)

Detailed steps to preform this are as follows:

  • Go to the main home screen.
  • Open your App tray (Apps button at the top right)
  • Open the Settings application.
  • Go to the Location & Security tab.
  • Click Configure Lock Screen
  • Click PIN
  • Type 1234 (Followed by OK)
  • Confirm 1234 (Follow by OK)
  • Go back to the home screen (The House Button at bottom right)
  • Turn off the screen
  • Turn on the screen
  • Unlock the device
  • Open your App tray (Apps button at the top right)
  • Open the Settings application.
  • Go to the Location & Security tab.
  • Click Configure Lock Screen
  • Type 1234 (Followed by Continue)
  • Click Not secured

Now when you issue the lock command all should work.
